Cybele Speculative Dating Application

Cybele is a dating application informed and inspired by MIT's Impossible baby Project, CRISPR-Cas9 and dating apps such as Tinder, Bumble and Happen. In an imagined future where our personal genomic profile is accessible, this app allows users to input not only desired traits for their partners but as well the qualities and abilities they wish to see in their children.  Cybele was created to question how we have mapped new technologies onto our personal lives, both biologically and socially.

I used iTunes' Apple music on-boarding process to restrict the amount of qualities the users could pick for their child. I also wanted to parallel a curation experience with the highly personal and random process of creating a child.

Partner filters are quite standard and easier to iterate on. Being that my main focus was the procreation portion of this application I kept this rooted in the contemporary rather than the future.

Process Highlights

Rapid user testing and low fidelity prototypes

 

After proper precedent research and development of personas and design criteria, I created low fidelity "clickable" prototypes to user test. I then wanted to see how successfully my design matched the design criteria defined earlier in the project. I aimed for the design to act and feel like a standard dating app but I was also hoping that the design would spark conversations about how technology has entered in to the most personal moments of our lives. 

 

 
 

User Testing (CONt.)

 

Moving forward from the the wireframes I created a simple clickable digital interface in order to test usability. the feedback given to me was vital heading into the final design. I was able to stream line the usability and work out major redundencies within the interface
